3DCeram Sinto and Avignon Ceramic: An Exclusive Video Revealing the Behind-the-scenes of a Co-development Between French Companies in the Aerospace Sector

3DCeram Sinto announces the release of a new video highlighting its strategic partnership with Avignon Ceramic. The aim of this release is to illustrate how ceramic 3D printing meets new industrial challenges and to highlight the strength of a mastered co-development.

From traditional injection to 3D printing: a necessary evolution:

Avignon Ceramic, founded in 1870 and with 180 employees, is a company historically specialized in ceramic injection moulding (CIM) for the production of ceramic cores. These complex parts, intended for investment casting, target highly demanding sectors such as aerospace and gas turbines, with prestigious clients like Howmet, Rolls Royce, and Safran.

However, ceramic injection presents certain limitations when faced with demands for increasingly complex geometries, such as double or triple-skin cores, which are simply not injectable. This need for flexibility, speed, and design freedom pushed Avignon Ceramic to specialize in ceramic 3D printing starting in 2017, thus paving the way for a collaboration with 3DCeram.

The C100 Easy: reliability and industrial precision:

In this video, Juile Josso, Chemical Engineer specializing in Materials at Avignon Ceramic, details the use of 3DCeram’s C100 Easy printer. This machine, equipped with a large number of adjustable parameters, allows for a highly diverse range of prints while adapting to strict industry requirements. Thanks to the top-down SLA process, the company achieves reproducible manufacturing, highly faithful to CAD, and overcomes defects such as delamination or warping. It is a particularly intuitive tool that requires little maintenance, ensuring its reliability for regular use in an industrial environment.

A co-development driving responsiveness:

The success of this partnership relies on the complementarity of the two players: Avignon Ceramic brings its expertise in minerals and cores, while 3DCeram provides its expert knowledge of organic binders related to 3D printing. Together, the teams have developed an SLA-printable ceramic core paste perfectly suited for DS/SX casting.

This process offers unprecedented responsiveness: where the design and manufacture of a mould took weeks or even months, 3D printing allows a finished part (printing, firing, and finishing) to be delivered in a maximum of two weeks. In the event of a design change, adjustments are made in a few hours. In 2025, this decisive advantage convinced a major name in aerospace to opt for 3D printing during a test on military parts, a project that later turned into short-run production.

Toward the industrialization of technologies:

The shared objective is to master the entire process, from the raw material to the final part, in order to guarantee increasingly reliable production in terms of mechanical strength, dimensional accuracy, and surface finish.
