In the production of tablets, it is essential to completely exclude their contamination by foreign substances. This makes it necessary, especially for the dies used for their shaping, to use only those materials that exhibit high resistance to mechanical wear and corrosion, and which are approved for such pharmaceutical applications.
For this purpose, oxide ceramic materials on the basis of ZrO2 are suitable. Materials of this type are characterized by the following properties relevant for this application:
- High wear and corrosion resistance
- High contour accuracy
- High mechanical strength
- High edge stability
- Ability to form force, form-fit, and substance-to-substance bonds with metals
Dies made of high-purity, dense-sintered oxide ceramic materials have been proven components for decades in positions exposed to high wear and corrosion. They are characterized by high reliability and long-term resistance in operating conditions.
