Company profile

Acuriant Technologies is a global membrane technology company delivering advanced filtration and separation solutions for industrial operators and municipal utilities where performance, reliability, and economics matter most.

Acuriant brings together Nanostone Water’s robust ceramic ultrafiltration with Solecta’s precision-engineered polymeric membranes, spanning microfiltration, ultrafiltration, nanofiltration, and reverse osmosis. The result is one of the industry’s most comprehensive membrane portfolios, covering everything from highly variable, challenging water sources to high-value process and product streams.

Across water treatment, dairy, food ingredients, life sciences, semiconductor, and advanced manufacturing markets, Acuriant helps customers reduce pretreatment complexity, increase yield and throughput, and lower total cost of ownership. Performance is proven in real-world installations, not theoretical curves.

Acuriant’s ceramic filtration platforms protect downstream processes by reliably removing suspended solids, bacteria, and colloids under aggressive operating conditions. Its polymeric separation technologies deliver molecular-level selectivity, enabling precise concentration, purification, and recovery of valuable components. Combined, these capabilities allow Acuriant to design systems from customer KPIs backward, balancing protection, precision, and economics.

Founded through the merger of Nanostone Water and Solecta, Acuriant is headquartered in Boston, with major operations in Germany and the United States, and serves customers worldwide.

Life’s Essentials. Performance Solutions.

That promise reflects Acuriant’s role at the intersection of clean water, pure ingredients, and process certainty. The company engineers membrane technologies that deliver measurable results where failure is not an option.

Market leadership

Acuriant, through its Nanostone Water brand, delivers the world’s most prominent ceramic ultrafiltration solutions for municipal and industrial water treatment applications where variable water quality, fouling resistance, space efficiency, and lifetime economics are the primary design drivers. Nanostone’s leadership is grounded in proven performance. Its reference base includes some of the world’s most demanding water conditions, including more than 40 wastewater treatment installations in the semiconductor sector, where process stability, uptime, and defensible compliance are critical. The company is deliberately selective in where it competes. Through a defined sweet spot strategy, Nanostone focuses on applications where its ceramic UF technology delivers clear operational and economic advantage, rather than competing broadly on lowest upfront cost. This disciplined positioning is paired with deep application expertise. The Acuriant team engages closely with customers to engineer solutions that meet real-world constraints and performance targets. Beyond technology supply, Nanostone is known for staying engaged through commissioning and operation, supporting customers until agreed performance KPIs are achieved. This combination of robust ceramic membrane systems, application know-how, and long-term accountability defines Nanostone’s leadership within the ceramic ultrafiltration market.

Special know-how

Through its Nanostone Water brand, Acuriant combines deep ceramic membrane design with in-house ceramic manufacturing and production in Germany, alongside advanced application engineering. The company’s expertise spans ceramic formulation, controlled sintering, precision membrane coating of multi-channel ceramic supports, and element production to deliver mechanically robust, chemically tolerant membranes with consistent pore structure and hydraulic performance at scale.

This production capability is tightly integrated with system-level engineering, including hydraulic optimization, fouling management strategies, cleaning regime design, high-integrity element sealing, and high-packing-density module integration. The result is reliable ultrafiltration performance in a minimal footprint, with predictable lifetime economics under demanding municipal and industrial operating conditions.

Acuriant offers a comprehensive ceramic ultrafiltration product portfolio through its Nanostone Water brand, spanning membrane modules, pilot systems, and containerized treatment solutions for municipal and industrial water applications.

At the core of the portfolio is Nanostone’s ceramic UF module range, based on multi-channel ceramic membrane elements engineered for robust operation, chemical and mechanical durability, and long service life under challenging water conditions.

To support technology selection and project de-risking, Nanostone offers a structured pilot program, allowing customers to validate ceramic UF performance under site-specific conditions. Pilot systems are used to assess fouling behavior, cleanability, operating stability, and performance boundaries, providing reliable data for full-scale design.

Nanostone also offers containerized ceramic UF solutions, delivering pre-engineered, factory-integrated systems for rapid deployment. These solutions reduce on-site civil works, shorten installation and commissioning timelines, and provide a compact, standardized approach for applications such as temporary capacity expansion, remote or constrained sites, modular plant upgrades, and decentralized water and reuse projects.

Together, this product portfolio enables Acuriant to support customers from evaluation through implementation with ceramic ultrafiltration solutions focused on reliability, speed of deployment, and long-term operational value.
________________________________________________________________________________

Acuriant serves municipal and industrial water markets through its Nanostone Water brand, applying ceramic ultrafiltration technology in applications where water quality variability, operational resilience, space efficiency, and long-term performance are critical.

In municipal water and wastewater treatment, Nanostone ceramic UF is applied to surface water treatment, advanced wastewater treatment, water reuse, and other projects where source water quality is increasingly variable and available footprint is limited. These same performance attributes extend to seawater desalination pretreatment, where ceramic UF provides robust and stable protection of downstream RO systems under challenging intake conditions such as algal blooms, high suspended solids loading, and seasonal variability.

In industrial water and wastewater applications, Nanostone ceramic UF is deployed where polymer membranes struggle with fouling, chemical exposure, or mechanical stress. This includes high-purity and high-risk environments such as semiconductor manufacturing, as well as process water, reuse, and wastewater treatment in power generation, chemicals, and mining and resource industries, where water streams are abrasive, chemically aggressive, and highly variable. In these settings, ceramic UF supports reliable operation, high uptime, and long service life, even under harsh operating conditions.
