CeramTec Opens New Plant in China

Dr Ulf-D. Zimmermann and Lei Chen drew on the lion’s eyes according to Chinese tradition CeramTec executives Dr Ulf-D. Zimmermann, Sigurd Adler and Rolf-Michael Müller, the entire management team and the Supervisory Board of CeramTec Suzhou, the General Council of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dr  Wolfgang Röhr, and Lei Chen, a representative of the Chinese Government, opened the new plant at the Suzhou site during a celebration ceremony. The plant is located at the heart of one of the most advanced industry zones in China, Suzhou Industrial Park (SIP), and guarantees proximity to the major economic center Shanghai. The plant opening marked the completion of the MOVE project, the new construction and the move from the old plant to the new one. The project is an example of the fruitful international cooperation between German, Chinese and Czech CeramTec employees. Dr Ulf-D. Zimmermann explained during his opening speech: “We are opening this new plant in Suzhou in response to the growing importance of the markets in the Chinese and Asian regions. I would like to thank everyone responsible for the project and wish our colleagues in Suzhou tenacity and success”. He also mentioned CeramTec’s 14-year history in China and talked about how the subsidiary has grown from four employees then to over 150 today. The production site in Suzhou has an area of around 4300 m2 and provides jobs for approximately 200 employees. The Chinese subsidiary’s new plant manufactures ceramic components for the electronics, textiles and sanitary industry markets along with other industries. The new office building is close to 1200 m2 and houses the administration, sales and management offices among others.
