H.C. Starck Powder Divisions Adopt New Corporate Legal Structure

Four new affiliates were founded back in late 2015 with the following names:

• H.C. Starck Tungsten GmbH

• H.C. Starck Tantalum and Niobium GmbH

• H.C. Starck Surface Technology and Ce- ramic Powders GmbH

• H.C. Starck Infrastructure GmbH & Co. KG.

The employees who are currently assigned to the three powder divisions were transferred to the new companies. Employees who work in technical and administrative services and in Group functions remained at H.C. Starck GmbH. H.C. Starck Infrastructure GmbH & Co. KG will have no staff for the time being. In line with these changes, the new companies began operating as independent enterprises on 1 August. The three powder divisions operate in different markets, and each market has a logic of its own. The new structure will allow the different business segments to operate with greater autonomy and individual responsibility than before, thereby responding even faster and with greater flexibility to specific market requirements.

A significant move has already been made in charting the course for further growth at the H.C. Starck Tungsten GmbH by founding the joint ventures in China and Vietnam. The global production network, encompassing sites in Germany, Canada, China, and Vietnam, offers outstanding conditions for strengthening the division’s market position around the world. For the H.C. Starck Tantalum and Niobium GmbH, a leading provider of tantalum capacitor powders, the further development of the product range is paramount. One example of this is tantalum pastes, which have a significant impact on the electronics industry by enabling production of ultrathin devices and wearables. H.C. Starck Surface Technology and Ceramic Powders GmbH is driving the qualification of atomized metal powders forward with key players in the market for additive manufacturing. The successful existing partnership with the market leader in 3D-printing based on metal powder is being expanded. Other goals include gaining further market share in the industrial gas turbines and aviation segments as well as in LED technology.
