The use of components made of high-grade ceramics for transmission and receiver systems essentially requires appropriate dielectric properties from the materials.

One type of material suitable in principle as a dielectric resonator is high-purity, low-alkali, dense-sintered Al2O3 ceramic, as on account of the following properties it can be used as a frequency filter for a narrow transmission range:

  • Purity: ≥ 99,5 %
  • Elements of the 1st main group: < 100 ppm
  • Density: > 98 % of the theoretical value
  • Dielectric constant: 9.5
  • Dielectric loss angle: frequency-dependent 10-3 to 10-4
  • Quality factor: > 10 000
  • High geometric and topographic precision
