Functionalized Design with Advanced Ceramics as Key Component
Within the framework of a strategic workshop traditional properties of advanced ceramics were presented as well as those properties which are interesting for design applications. Here, the focus was on the variety of possible coloring in connection with the resistance of surfaces and colors in difficult environments. A component for time registration systems, which Kläger Spritzguss GmbH/DE has developed for its customer Interflex Datensysteme GmbH & Co. KG/DE, is an innovative example in this field. Manufacturers and research institutions work intensively on the further development of different colored ceramic parts which is still in its first stages. For transparent ceramics, however, the conditions for a large industrial application have already been created. With wear-resistant protection windows for sandblasters or temperature and chemically resistant components for machine and equipment engineering the application field has been expanded. The accompanying exhibition was well received by the visitors. In total, 3800 trade visitors were registered at InnoMateria which coincided with interzum – the international fair for the furniture and interior construction industries’ supplying sections. For 2014, it is planned to participate at Ceramics Visions taking place at Fraunhofer IKTS in Dresden/DE in January and to arrange exhibition areas on joint booths at Hannover Messe.
